Effect of BPC-157 on Symptoms in Patients with Interstitial Cystitis: A Pilot Study

Outcomes summary

Pilot study of 12 women with moderate to severe interstitial cystitis who had not responded to pentosan polysulfate treatment; all patients underwent single intravesical injection of BPC-157 (total dose 10 mg), with 10 of 12 patients reporting complete symptom resolution (100% improvement) and 2 patients reporting 80% improvement; no adverse events were reported.

Limitations

Small sample size (n=12), single-arm design without control group, lack of pre/post biopsies, limited ethnic and demographic diversity, and short follow-up period; retrospective nature of the analysis.
