What does “research-only” mean on this site?
“Research-only” means the compound is not approved for clinical use (or it is being discussed in a research context); evidence may be limited to preclinical or early human studies.
On compound pages, status is meant to clarify regulatory/clinical context (not to imply safety or appropriateness).
Common patterns:
- Research-only: limited or no high-quality human evidence; may be investigational.
- Approved: approved in at least one jurisdiction for at least one indication.
- Off-label: approved for some indications but commonly discussed for others.
